The world first haven for emeriti to recycle wisdom

The "Emeritus Club" is the world's first society for emeritus professors and their equivalents to exchange in scholarly debate. It was established in Kyoto, Japan in November 1, 1988. All the emeriti in the world are welcome to join its voluntary ranks.

It is maintained by membership fees and thus remains independent. Activities of the members are supported by the secretariat, with office facilities common for university professors. Several scientific and/or health-related organizations also have their offices in the Club. Scholarly exchagnes and cooperation among different disciplines are eagerly expected, although members are primarily independent to each other.

The club also serves to promote the well-being of its members by offering a means of intellectual stimulation in retirement.

At the 5th flour of Pastuer Building near Hyakumanben, all facilities of the Club are well-equipped.

There are desks for ten members, three small meeting spaces, a small library, a secretariat office with a copying machine, a facsimile, a small printing machine, internet facilities and so on. There are four kinds of members as follows:

All members, except organization members should pay their annual fees at the beginning of the fiscal year.
